NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE FILIPINO PEOPLE 2012

October last year, the National Museum had opened its doors free to public and we didn’t missed it. Believing in a simple fact of life: best things in life are free.
FIRST VISIT: Oct 25, 20012
SECOND VISIT: Oct 31, 2012

This year you can visit it for free during the Museums and Galleries Month, see my post. 🙂
Free entrance to the museum and galleries of the National Museum of the Filipino People the whole month of October 2013.

SPOLIARIUM- the biggest painting I ever saw in my entire life. I was overwhelmed really. Never thought that this was huge (should’ve listened attentively to my history teachers).

Spoliarium is a Latin word referring to the basement of the Roman Colosseum where the fallen and dying gladiators are dumped.

Fascinating manunggul jar excavetad at Manunggul cave at Palawan but you don’t really need to fly to Palawan. Just visit and see it for yourself at the National Museum.

The gallery for national treasures, view it 360 degrees here.

Do you have an eye for artistry? Test it with all the galleries from paintings to sculpture, like this one.

This seems creepy when Jose Rizal (painting) is looking. A gallery all for himself.

Amorsolo – the National Artist. A gallery of some of his sketches and paintings.

This is my most favorite gallery, the evolution of medicine in the Philippines expressed in huge artistic works.

Don’t mess with this big guy here. See his boney mates at the Bones gallery.

Morning Rush at San Marcelino and Finding a Computer Shop

I have to be early to print out my lesson plan, and since I don’t have any idea where I could find one near the Pearl of the Orient Tower, I decided to get off LRT at Central Station and walk the busy streets of San Marcelino where during my college days we often do our research and rents computers.

Image

I knew exactly where I could print out my lesson plan and I also need to find a photocopying machine so I’d crossed roads going to Adamson University, got lucky found one that is open that early. Then, walking again until I reached Taft Avenue but before riding a jeep I took a snapshot of my Alma Mater -Philippine Normal University.

Lights and Music Fountain at Luneta Park

For the love of exploration, we walk into the busy grounds of Roxas Boulevard, Luneta Park and Intramuros. This happens for 5-days of which attending a seminar in the morning and 5-days of exploring Manila in the afternoon (5 PM-onward). This is a part of the 5-Days Manila Challenge.

It was already dark when we reached Luneta Park but as there are still Chinese tourists who just arrived at its facade.

At night, the park glows with not bright lights but also sodium lamps that make the place more scenic but aside from that, there is a good chance to witness the light and music fountain show, like we did and witnessed.

Just bring your mat or find a good bench and enjoy the fountain show with your loved ones for free. What I love about the show is  not just because its free but also it do feature original pinoy music (OPM) which I do really like and we did sing-a-long to.

It was great night to bond with my new found friends and we are also treated by Sir Rolan, that’s why.

After the seminar, we wanted to go home early for some tasks to be done needed for tomorrow. But how do you stop your feet from finding its way to good and exciting places? :)

We ended up walking again in Luneta Park and saw the Children’s Playground… and said to each other, let’s just be quick. LOL!

Golfing or Bluffing

For the love of exploration, we walk into the busy grounds of Roxas Boulevard, Luneta Park and Intramuros. This happens for 5-days of which attending a seminar in the morning and 5-days of exploring Manila in the afternoon (5 PM-onward). This is a part of the 5-Days Manila Challenge.

After enjoying our Street food trip, and just when we thought that we should head back to the LRT station and call it a day, we cross the street for some golf balls and pictorials in Club Intramuros Golf Course.

We did try to ask if we can roam around the Club Intramuros, but our charms didn’t work, all we end up is to be photographed by a civil guard in the Bermuda grasses. It’s still fun to be inside the Club Intramuros Gold Course. And speaking of fun, we asked if we can pick up some golf balls, they said, “no.” LOL!

But just when we are about to give up, they told us that if we want to have one, we can buy at the store found in the opposite road. And so we went there, asked for the cost of the balls, Kuya wanted to sell 12 balls for 200 pesos, but with haggling we had 14 balls for 200. It will serve as our remembrance for this fun day in Intramuros. If you want one just leave a comment or message, i have four (4) golf balls still ready for give aways.
